CIS DC Metro was originally created as a service center / branch office for CIS Office Installers Inc. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ( www.cisinstallers.com ) CIS has been in business since 1983, exclusively offering office furniture and facility management services ( furniture installation, warehousing, reconfiguration, repair and refurbishing ) to major office furniture dealerships, independent sales reps and large corporations.
As CIS DC Metro grew it became apparent that clients in the Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC region required a more full service approach to their office furniture needs. Therefore, substantial resources have been allocated in order to support this vibrant market.
The new corporation will be managed by Ed Shiring. Ed had been an account manager at Vision Business Products in Pittsburgh. His expertise at Vision was the procurement and installation of high density mobile filing units and contract furniture in western Pennsylvania. Ed’s connections to CIS go back even further though, to his days ( 25 years actually ) at Westinghouse Electric Corporation & Westinghouse Furniture Systems / Knoll, where he had a long and successful career as business development / regional manager in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh .
